KRIS WINS!!!

OK, so here it is...I am a HUGE Kris Allen fan from American Idol. From the day he was announced as one of the top 13 this year, he has been my choice. Each week I would get excited when he wasn't eliminated, which meant I had another week to watch him perform. Last night when he was announced the winner, I was SO EXCITED! I really hoped he had enough to pull out the win over Adam, but had told myself not to get my hopes up. Of course he did it, which meant a celebration. We jumped in the car and met Wende and her kids at Dairy Queen for some celebratory ice cream. We had a great time chatting about the show and the fantastic song Kris sang with Keith Urban. I look forward to seeing more from Kris and admiring 2009's AMERICAN IDOL WINNER!!!

The Proud Mama

There are just some moments in life that make me so proud to me a mom. These are some of them...

James ran track again this year and made it to the District Qualifying Meet. I am so proud of him because a few years ago, I never would have dreamed he would even be interested in track. Now he's doing so well with it and even signed up for it as a class next year in High School. He amazes me with his talents and abilities. I am so impressed by his determination and will to improve himself.

The girls took dance again this year and it seems that a recital doesn't start without my tears starting, too. Somehow, seeing my beautiful girls on stage brings a deep emotion in me. They have both improved so much this year and I love to watch them dance, even when it's just at home in the living room.

These are some of my true joys!

The Fire Pit

Phil brought home the fire pit he purchased from the work charity auction this week and we had a fun little get together and enjoyed some s'mores. My parents and Nick, Carri, and Lexi came over tonight to have a little party. Even though I wasn't thrilled Phil bought the fire pit, I can see that we'll really enjoy it this summer. We look forward to lots of marshmallows and chocolate!

The Big 4-0!

Happy Birthday, Phil!
I spent 6 weeks trying to put together a Surprise 40th Birthday party for Phil and the morning of the party, my 5 year old niece, Kate, spilled the beans. She is so cute and just couldn't keep it a secret, but Phil didn't know when or where the party was to happen and swears he would have known anyway because I just couldn't let this one pass without a party!
Jenny's parents offered their home to have the party and they were so good to us. Marilyn and Jenny did their famous ribs and we had a delicious dinner with great food from great friends and cakes/cupcakes to finish it off. Lauren was so excited to make a cake for her dad, and Janae made a fantastic German Chocolate cake (Phil's favorite!)

Even though it may not have been a true surprise, Phil seemed very happy about it and constantly hugged me and said thanks all night. It certainly made all the work worthwhile!

We had a great turnout with family and friends and a true surprise to Phil when the Clarks, our best friends from Boise, rang the doorbell to join the celebration. I was glad I was able to pull that one off and I was so glad they could be here with us. It was a fun night that we enjoyed so much with our friends.
Happy Birthday, Hon! Somehow we really are that old!
